Easier Design Techniques, Using Massing and Storefronts, Galen Hoeflinger, Ayers Saint Gross
Galen Hoeflinger led a discussion of how to work around the hassles of creating endless families of windows by using storefront walls. Storefront's inherent ability to imbed into walls allowing designers freedom to quickly modify the size and design of window by using curtain grids and mullions. Furthermore by using the ability to replace panels in a storefront system, with walls such a brick walls, allows designers to create a very complex, yet flexible, wall composition very quickly and easily. It was also shown that utilizing massing and applying storefront (with techniques discussed earlier) to mass faces enhances initial design speed while providing critical "depth" to elevations.

Autodesk University Recap, Rob Smedley, The Onyx Group
This years Autodesk University (AU) resulted in another record breaking attendance of nearly 7,500 attendees - 50% more then the previous year! With 2/3 of all participants taking a Revit course, it's obvious that BIM was the driving force behind the substantial increase. Revit Building, Revit Structure & Revit Systems courses were standing room only and tickets to the Revit Users Group Mixer were harder to get then a U2 concert. With Autodesk's purchase of FM Desktop there were additional courses offered in the important downstream applications of Facilities Management via Revit. Next year will most likely top 10,000 attendees so mark your calendars now for November 27 - 30, 2007 at The Venetian Resort Hotel Las Vegas, U.S.A. You can't afford to miss it!

Model Time, Derek Wood, Fox Architects
"I think an interesting way of approaching the worksets presentation its to discuss their original intent and how that has transitioned into the current revit version. I think that conversation can discuss how worksets can be used to benefit the user and the design team."
