Behind the Challenge

Artists around the world were challenged to design and render the scene that inspired their love for gaming and computing graphics using their favorite 3D applications and Omniverse Create, an advanced scene composition app within the NVIDIA Omniverse platform.

FAQs

  • Who can participate in NVIDIA Omniverse contests?

    Anyone in the eligible countries - found here - can enter! This is a contest meant for creators of any level and is meant to introduce you to the powerful rendering capabilities of Omniverse. No prior experience or knowledge is necessary.

  • What do I need in order to participate?

    The Retroverse contest requires downloading and installing Omniverse Open Beta and Omniverse Create. Please note, a GeForce RTX or NVIDIA RTX card are minimum requirements for rendering in Omniverse Create

    Feel free to create your assets in any of your favorite 3D applications, however the scene must be assembled and rendered in Omniverse.

    We have partnered with TurboSquid by Shutterstock to provide a variety of different free consoles to choose from. You are allowed to bring in a maximum of three of these premade assets to your scene. You are not restricted to use the provided TurboSquid assets in their native form. You are free to edit and update the source assets in any capacity - geometry, UVs, and textures.

  • What do I need to include in my submission?

    Your submission should include: 

    • Your final rendered scene ( in .jpg format) and your full, final USD scene (so we can ensure it was rendered in Omniverse). No .zip files will be considered. 
    • You are permitted up to 5 beauty shot still images that help to show off your work.
    • Any behind-the-scenes videos are welcomed but not mandatory.
  • How will submissions be judged?

    Your submission will be judged on: 

    • Overall originality
    • Adherence to “retro gaming” theme
    • Creativity of the entire scene, set dressing and lighting
    • Quality and cinematic feeling of the final render
    • Adherence to the submission guidelines
  • How do I find out if I won?

    Our team will reach out to you via email to let you know if you have won and we will also post on our social media.

    Our experts are available to you on the Omniverse Forums. Check out the dedicated contest forum or Discord server for help from Omniverse engineers or our creative community.
